Webinar – Modelling as a tool to understand wildfire risk and risk reduction potential

13 November 2025

Learn how the Climate Change Adaptation Digital Twin (Climate DT) and PIISA projects explore wildfire models used to evaluate fire risk in a changing climate. Fire spread modelling can be used to assess efficacy and efficiency of wildfire prevention solutions (e.g. fire breaks and fuel management) in current and future climates.

Disaster risk management and reduction experts, climate change adaptation community, actuaries and risk analysts from insurance sector. The webinar is organized by the Climate Change Adaptation Digital Twin (Climate DT) initiative in collaboration with the HEU PIISA project.

Destination Earth (DestinE) is the European Commission's flagship initiative that aims at creating a digital model of the whole Earth.

Climate DT is Destination Earth's digital twin for climate change adaptation. It supports adaptation by providing climate information globally on multi-decadal timescales up to year 2050. Climate DT combines cutting-edge Earth-system models with wildfire and other applications.

Destination Earth Service Platform (DESP) is the main user interface for Destination Earth's services and the data produced by its digital twins.

HEU PIISA (Piloting Innovative Insurance Solutions for Adaptation) is a Horizon Europe funded project working to reduce the climate change adaptation gap (i.e. the difference between the recognized need for adaptation and the actually implemented adaptation) by developing and piloting new insurance and risk-sharing concepts.
